Regarding the participation of citizens who do not have a Social Security Number in the vaccination process
The COVID-19 vaccination process is one of the greatest challenges that Greece faced in recent decades.
Approximately 2,000 of our fellow citizens in Kefalonia and Ithaca, come from the United Kingdom and EU countries. Most of them do not have a Greek Social Security Number (AMKA) that would allow them to follow participate in the main vaccination process.
Despite the existence of a special electronic platform, where citizens who do not have an AMKA can express their interest in participating, vaccinations have not yet begun for this group.
Today I discussed the issue with the Secretary General of Primary Health Care, Mr. Marios Themistokleous. I explained to him the importance of the participation of all our fellow citizens in Kefalonia and Ithaca. We agreed on the need to speed up the process. For this reason, the Ministry of Health with a legislative regulation, will create a special category of AMKA, which can be attributed to this group of our fellow citizens, in order to facilitate their participation in the vaccination process equally.
