Ο συγκλονιστικός “αποχαιρετισμός” του γιού του Αγγελου Σταματελάτου

Ο Marino Stamatelatos γιός του συμπατριώτης μας Αγγελου Σταματελάτου που άφησε την τελευταία του πνοή στη Νέα Υόρκη κτυπημένος από τον κοροναϊό , αποχαιρετάει τον αγαπημένο του πατέρα με μια συγκλονιστική ανάρτηση στο facebook.

It’s with deepest regret and sorrow that I announce the passing of our beloved father, loving husband and caring grandfather , Άγγελος Σταματελάτος . After losing a courageous battle to Covid-19 he died with a stranger holding his hand .

While my father feared being alone we could not be with him physically to say our last goodbyes. The truest nightmare of any family is to not be there for each other… to hug and console and to kiss each other’s cheeks. He would have wanted that but it is unfortunately not Gods will. We however were in his ear constantly encouraging him to fight and telling him we loved him. I take some comfort in thinking somehow he could hear us and know that all of his sacrifices would never be forgotten.

For those who knew Angelo , you know that he was a loving person who cared for everyone. He was a person who not only taught me life lessons but a true humanitarian who taught us how to love our fellow person. A man who would give anything to anyone who asked … wether it was a little or a lot of money, some advice, a big hug or even a good smack on the back of your neck. He was love and he exemplified love.

He leaves behind a legacy that will live forever and also a family that is unbreakable in their love and devotion to his memory:

His faithful wife of 44 years , Nikoletta Stamatelatos who is alone for the first time. She would give anything to have been by his side, to hear his sweet words that brought her comfort and joy one last time. He was her soulmate, best friend, therapist and nudge. They are eternally bonded and my siblings and I can only pray to remain so unbroken with our wonderful spouses.

Two wonderful daughters, Aphrodite Manolios who acted as my fathers caregiver up to the moment he was hospitalized who without her we would all have been completely lost . Her endless calls to doctors and nurses gave us times to gain strength to fight as our father fought. She is my hero

Alice Stamatelatos Rallis who was my fathers light and smile. She always annoyed him and he bothered her to eat and stop wasting money on her kids . Aphro and I know she was the favorite which is fine cause she’s ours favorite too.

A son who without him would not be the man I am today . I take pride in people saying that του μοιάζεις ( you’re like him) cause he was so handsome and kind. I hope to be half the man he was. I thank him for his guidance and mentoring and above all his love.

His only sister Θεοδοσία who he so greatly loved and adored .

Six beautiful and perfect εγγονάκια , Peter, Valentina, Nicholas, Matthew-Angelos, Teddy and Angelica. All of who miss him greatly and wanted one last crocodile. They brought him pure joy and happiness and they are the ones who truly lost.

2 amazing son-in-laws , Alex Rallis and Chris Manolios who he loved and he knows will look after his daughters. He is proud of you guys

An incredible daughter-in-law, Maria Cericola Stamatelatos who is was especially fond of . He loved her like his own daughters and she loved him back just the same. He saw how much I loved her and he loved her for that.

Thank you to all our friends, families, colleagues, staff, strangers etc who have reached out to express your condolences and love. I know he impacted each and everyone of you in some way or another and my family takes comfort knowing he was so loved. While we cannot be together in this physically we are in huge virtual hug and we are crying together.

May her Rest In Peace and his memory be eternal
